Description

Discover this stamp dedicated to the Louvre Museum in Abu Dhabi, a unique building and a special project with Spanish participation in its construction.

The Louvre Museum in Abu Dhabi offers the possibility of living a journey through history, from the dawn of humanity to the present day. The chronological and thematic itinerary proposed within the rooms of the museum allows us to explore different eras and civilizations. The museum goes into the sea while enjoying the more than 700 works of art.

Eight overlapping layers of geometric lace, formed by 8,000 pieces known as stars, through which sunlight enters generating an effect similar to the rays that filter through the leaves of the palm trees, form the spectacular dome designed by the Frenchman Jean Nouvel for the Louvre Museum in Abu Dhabi.

This dome was a challenge for the construction company San José, a Spanish company in charge of the construction of the architectural project of the museum. The structure measures 180 meters in diameter, 36 meters high at its highest point and weighs 7,500 tons, supported only by four points of support, perfectly concealed inside the building, which produces the feeling that the dome is suspended in the air.

The seal presents a detail of the famous dome framed in a block sheet that shows different views of the Museum and its spectacular surroundings.

What is a block sheet, and how is it different from a normal seal?

Taking into account that the normal seal has only the surface occupied by the seal, the block sheet is an illustrated surface where one or more seals can appear, so its dimension will be larger, occupying that of the seal and the rest of the sheet and, their sizes and shapes can be very varied.

A curious fact that also differentiates the seal and the block sheet, is that in the first one live characters cannot appear, but in the environment of the seal in the block sheet yes.
