x5
Price unit:

Description

A joint issue of stamps between Spain and Chile to remember one of the greatest poetesses of the twentieth century and a reference of universal poetry.

Born in Chile in 1889, she was a teacher and began publishing her first poetic works in 1904. She won several prizes, until in 1945 she was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature.

In most of her works the children are the protagonists, being very close to them because of her profession as a teacher; and this is also one of the most admired aspects of her work. She also dealt with other issues, among them, the condition of women in Latin America, indigenous peoples, the education of the American peoples or the need to raise the dignity and social status of children in the continent, to achieve equal opportunities.

A close-up of Gabriela's face, on a background covered with her manuscripts, make up the main image of this special broadcast.
